Green Energy UK Wins Cisco Customer King Award

With recent research showing that customers almost despair when it comes to energy companies the news that a new boy in town has won a prestigious award may help others turn the corner.

The Cisco Customer King award celebrates those businesses that show innovation and excellence when it comes to creating a lasting customer relationship which just goes to show that great customer service can be developed no matter what type of business you own.

Most Energy Companies Rate Poorly

Recent research by consumer focus showed that 28% of consumers in Scotland actually had cause to complain about their energy companies and around the rest of the UK is no different. Many people still believe that electricity and gas prices are too high especially when they see the results of such companies and the profits that are being reported. So it was a delight when we read that one new energy company had won this award.

Green Energy UK – the Customer Difference

Part of the difference that was made by the judges is that green energy UK give consumers a share of their company if they stay with them for at least 12 months. They become real shareholders in a private company and can turn up to AGMs and the like just as they would do with the large PLCs. The other area noted is that customers can get through to real people who can answer their questions on the telephone rather than being shunted around automated answering systems and never having their issue solved.

Another element that was praised was their website which allows total online management of a consumer’s account and they are able to upload meter readings and read about their bills. (note here: most of the other major energy companies also allow consumers to undertake this but not on all tariffs).

The small utility company won the top prize after beating 100 other companies around the UK. Doug Stewart founder and CEO of Green Energy UK said “We are a small company that has come a long way in less than a decade of trading in what is a highly competitive market dominated by heavyweights. The success of Green Energy UK is built on bringing new, clean energy sources to market, coupled with treating customers with respect and intelligence and involving them in the business. To be recognised like this by Cisco and Real Business is a fantastic accolade, one I’m naturally proud of, particularly as customer service in our industry is not highly regarded. I am especially pleased for the team here, as it recognises the excellent work they do in making Green Energy UK a success.”

Good luck to Green Energy and we wish you all the success in the future.
