About EDF Energy
EDF Energy is a French-owned company that started purchasing UK power companies during the 1990s. These acquisitions included London Electricity, SEEBoard, British Energy and SWEB. They currently serve over 8 million domestic and business customers in the UK and offer many tariffs that could suit your budget.
EDF is the largest generator of zero-carbon electricity in the UK and generates most of its energy from nuclear power stations. EDF owns all five operating and three de-fuelling sites in the UK, consisting of 15 nuclear reactors. There are plans to procure four additional power plants over the coming decades. The five operational plants produce 2126TWh (Terawatt hours).
Although EDF's cheapest tariff is not always in the top 10 from the major suppliers, it's always worth getting a quote for your area because prices vary by region in the UK.
